I asked the man for a rose.
He told me,
"I'm sorry, these are reserved for those
Who know how to make a decision."

I never told him it was meant for one
Yet to be cautiously chosen.

But he went on to say,
"You may take this thorn
To replace the one missing
In your right ventricle."

I didn't say he could place it
In my hand once clenched tightly.

I then requested directions
To the shop's entrance.
He whispered,
"Just continue walking forward."
